One Goal at a Time

If you don’t know already  people are unable to focus on two separate things at the same time. In reality what we do is switch our focus back and forth very quickly and to some people who gives us the illusion that we are splitting our focus between task. If you ever text while driving( you really should not text while driving its dangerous)  You noticed that the car swerved a little more than you realized.  That is because you focus was on the text rather than being on the road. If you want to read more about that phenomenon here is a link to an article. So hopefully you realize that the human mind can only Focus on one object at a time. So why do many people try to accomplish three different goals at the same time. I hear people saying I want to put on muscle, Lose weight, and increase my cardiovascular  endurance all at the same. All of which require different styles of training and different diets to fuel the body for that specific activity. But you want to accomplish all three goals at the same time.  I think the biggest problem with people in this day in age is that they are impatient. With the technology and internet information comes to you at an instant. You get spoiled and I believe that people think that they can make rapid changes with their bodies at the same time.  Remember a Jack of  all trades is a master of none. So if you try to accomplish multiple goals at the same time you will progress just a little bit in each area.  I find that if you take the time and commit to one goal. Such as Fat loss or Hypertrophy. Then you will accomplish a lot more in that respect. The first step is to find what is important to you and list your priorities. Second Set a time-table you will try to obtain that goal with a specific goal in mind with in a reasonable time-table ( Fat Loss with a goal of losing 8% body fat = on a 200 lbs person that’s roughly 16 lbs +/- in 1 month ). Even if you did not reach your goal in the time. You can move on to the next focus. Remember you  can always go back to fat lose later if you wanted to.  Remember focus on one goal at a time  it will keep you sane and you will find it will be easier to accomplish your perfect physic in no time.
